In Albany County, Cohoes Police were called shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, May 25, for three people who were reportedly going through parked vehicles on Leversee Avenue.
As officers were speaking with the three suspects, one of them, 18-year-old Ransell Segura, handed over a bag containing a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended high-capacity magazine, police said.
The weapon, which had been reported stolen out of Lincoln County, North Carolina, had its serial number defaced.
Segura, of Albany, was arrested on suspicion of the following:
- Criminal possession of stolen property (felony)
- Three counts of criminal possession of a weapon (felonies)
- Criminal possession of a firearm (felony)
- Criminal use of a firearm (felony)
He was arraigned in Cohoes City Court and was later released with an ankle monitor.
